Aa1 A classification of rating that is given to a financial or insurance company by a rating agency. This particular rating is considered to show that the company likely has securities that have some type of backing by insurance and that investor's funds within this company are likely very safe.
| ADP Automatic Data Processing (ADP). A private company that acts as an intermediary to perform proxy services for several banks and brokers. Distributes proxy material to beneficial owners, tabulates the returned proxies, and provides the Corporation or its tabulator compiled reports of the tabulation results. ADP also distributes quarterly reports and other corporate information to the beneficial owners. ADP is an American provider of business outsourcing solutions. It is also a provider of computing services to automobile and heavy equipment dealers. ADP is one of four U.S. companies to get a AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's (S&P) and Moody's.
| Asian stocks Asian stock market indices refer to the CFDs of the stock exchanges located in the Asian time zone. The region classified as the Asian region is not simply the geographical region called Asia, but also includes other areas located within the Asian time zone such as the Oceania region and the Middle East. By definition, this will include the stock market indices of Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Abu Dhabi, India, Vietnam, etc.
| Auctions Common name for several types of sales where the price is neither set nor arrived at by negotiation, but is discovered through the process of competitive and open bidding. The two major types of auction are (1) Forward auction in which several buyers bid for one seller's good(s) and (2) Reverse auction in which several sellers bid for one buyer's order. An auction is complete (and a binding contract is created) when a bid is accepted by the seller or the buyer (as the case may be).
| Average Hourly Earnings The Average Hourly Earnings released by the US Department of Labor. This is the hourly and weekly average earnings of all employees on private nonfarm payrolls by industry sector, and seasonally adjusted. It is a significant indicator of labor cost inflation and of the tightness of labor markets. The Federal Reserve Board pays close attention to when setting interest rates. A high reading is also positive for the USD, while a low reading is negative.
